About this experience
Three of Jordan's great holy sites are within an hour of each other. In Madaba you see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in St George's Church. On Mount Nebo you stand where Moses looked over the Promised Land, above the Memorial Church and its mosaics.
Then you descend 1,200 metres to the Jordan Valley and Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John baptised Jesus. A site guide leads you to the Byzantine baptism pools and down to the river bank.
