A desert oasis with a wetland boardwalk for birdwatching and a reserve bringing back the Arabian oryx.
For thousands of years Azraq's springs were the only permanent water in 12,000 km² of desert. The Azraq Wetland Reserve keeps part of the old marsh alive with a boardwalk and hides for migrating birds.
Nearby, the Shaumari Wildlife Reserve was created to breed the Arabian oryx, once extinct in the wild, along with gazelles and ostriches.
