The Dead Sea

The lowest point on Earth, more than 430 metres below sea level – float effortlessly and cover yourself in mineral mud.

The water of the Dead Sea is about ten times saltier than the ocean, so you float as if on an air mattress. The air is rich in oxygen and bromine, the sun's rays are softened by the haze, and the black mud has been used for skin care since the time of Herod.

Resorts on the Jordanian shore offer beach access, pools and spas with a day pass. Sunset here, when the hills of Palestine turn pink across the water, is unforgettable.
